Marissa and Cody’s Lake Tahoe destination elopement was one I will never forget! I have known Cody since Jr. High and Marissa and I became best friends in high school. As many do after graduation, we moved to different places and sort of lost touch. But this week was a reminder that time and distance means nothing when it comes to friendship. I flew into California four days before their elopement (to go to Yosemite), and spending that time with Marissa, it was as if nothing had changed! It was the best week and I already miss her so much!
Marissa & Cody’s Lake Tahoe Destination Elopement
Marissa and Cody are both in the military, stationed in different states and so an elopement just made more sense for them! Although they won’t get to live together until July, they couldn’t wait to get married! I thought it was the sweetest sentiment. Marissa lives close to Tahoe, so they knew it would be the perfect spot for their special day.
We did a first look at the Air BnB we were staying at and it was the best moment! Marissa was starting to cry just walking towards Cody. And when Cody turned around, he literally had to catch his breath! He was so excited to see his bride. She looked so beautiful.
They chose to get married at Emerald Bay, looking over the lake and it was GORGEOUS. The views there were incredible. They had a short and sweet ceremony and it was perfect. They had Marissa’s dogs there and it was the best addition to their day! Marissa loves them so much, so it only made sense that they be there. They whined during the ceremony, the couple teared up during vows, and family had huge smiles on their faces. It was perfect.
After the ceremony and a BBQ dinner, we headed to Zephyer Cove for more pictures! We had been there the day before to paddle board and we knew it would be the perfect spot for some beach pictures! We stayed until after sunset and it was breath-taking. These two were so much fun to photograph. They are silly together, so in love and just the best of friends. I was so happy to capture this day for one of my best friends.
