Weddings Mean Family

Being a premier Texas hill country caterer, means that we do A LOT of weddings. Here at Root Cellar Catering Co. we don’t like to play favorites. But, if I had my way, every wedding would be served Family Style. Here’s why:

  • Guest Ease:  No one wants to stand in line for food, I promise. We’ve all been to plenty of weddings, and standing in a buffet line is the pits. Especially if the catering company at said wedding is serving the guests. I personally hate being served perfectly rounded portions of mashed potatoes out of an ice cream scoop…cafeteria much? You know what sounds great? Finding your seat and having food brought to you. There’s no anxiously waiting around to be called up to the buffet line. You don’t have to shuffle back to your seat with a full plate of food, squeezing yourself through the tables of untucked chairs, teetering on too high heels, that frankly, you should not have worn, but they really do go better with that dress. I’ve been there sister.

  • Event Flow:  Bringing platters of food directly to your guests means that everyone gets fed and eats at the same time. If you are hosting a large wedding, logistically, it can take quite a bit of time to get everyone through a buffet line (even if it’s double sided). Family style lets you serve the entire party quickly, which gives you more time to dance off that delicious meal and inevitable piece of amazing cake.

  • Connection: Weddings are about the joining of two families, both blood relatives and your chosen tribe. It’s the colliding of worlds. Give your guests a reason to open up and connect. Sitting around the table and passing food to each other is so natural, it’s comfort, it’s home.

Yes, each and every wedding we cook for is a unique event. The basics are the same, the ceremony, the dinner, the toasts, the cake, the dancing, it’s the details that make it special. If you really want to stand out, consider giving your guests a food experience that they’ll rave about!
