If you’ve never heard of the Rising Tide Society, and you are a creative entrepreneur, you need to drop what you’re doing and check it out. Rising Tide Society is an international ‘community over competition’ group that meets on a Tuesday every month to lift each other up, continue business education, network and build a community of like minded creatives.
Being a business owner can be lonely, isolating and an emotional roller coaster. I felt like the Austin chapter of RTS was a saving grace when I first joined. I love chatting with people who just GET IT. They get the struggle, the highs, lows and all of the little victories. Meeting and making friends that are in the same industry, without making it a competition, was just what I needed.
Enter Kayli, owner of the Bloom Bar, and my dear friend.
I met Kayli almost two years ago, wanna know how?! Instagram! She messaged me, wanted to meet, and the rest is summed up by mimosa dates, happy hours and good conversation! Kayli and I hit it off, and started going to the Austin meetings together. Only problem is the drive is rough. And by rough, I mean driving into Austin at 6pm on a week night. We loved the meetings but it was getting old making the drive.
One night, after talking to the amazing Austin leader, we decided it was time to open our own chapter in San Marcos! We knew there was a need to unite the creative minds in our area. So many local artists, young college grads, and wedding industry businesses that were searching for a place to learn, grow and network!
Since opening (almost one year ago exactly!), we’ve put on three workshops, twelve educational meetings with professional speakers, five networking events, three coffee meet-ups and one float trip! Scroll down a bit more to see all the photos from the events!
It’s been a whirlwind of a year, personal and professionally, but this group has been a light. A bright, kind, hilarious light full of friendship and connection.
