We are so excited to introduce Kelsey, owner and founder of Oh Happy Day Booth!! We first met Kelsey through a local creative entrepreneurs group. And I knew we would be friends right away when I saw her Instagram story featuring her adorable miniature schnauzer (I have a schnauzer too and I’m obsessed)! I messaged her to say how cute her dog was and then she invited me to coffee! We became fast friends!!

Tell us a little bit about yourself.
My name is Kelsey and I’m the owner of Oh Happy Day Booth, a luxury photo booth company based in Austin, Texas! I live here with my husband Peter, and my rescue schnauzer Bailey. Most days you can find me in my home office, doing everything business related like designing new print templates, answering emails and brainstorming ideas of how to serve my clients better. When I’m not working, I enjoy a good Netflix binge and trying out new restaurants around town (let’s get together!).
Why did you start Oh Happy Day Booth?
I knew that engaged couples needed the option for a really great quality photo booth. I believe that brides and grooms deserve to expect more from their photo booth companies. You spend so much time (and let’s be honest, a ton of hard-earned money!) on making sure your wedding is gorgeously planned and I’ve been to too many weddings where the photo booth just seemed like an afterthought stuck in the corner of your reception. My mission is to always be as inclusive as any other vendor you have, and to make our booth match your wedding aesthetics as much as possible. That sometimes means matching the backdrop to the same shade as your bridesmaids’ dresses, and working with your invitation designer to create a matching print design.
What sets you apart from other photo booth companies?
I used to be a wedding photographer, so quality is quite literally my number one priority! We make sure our product is top of the line, every time, and we’re also proactive in figuring out ways to offer what our clients are wanting before our competition does. I spend as much effort making sure that my photo booth clients are happy and taken care of just as I did with my wedding photography clients. Planning a wedding is hard, and we aim to make the process as easy as possible.
What do you love most about your job?
I particularly love weddings because I get to work with some truly incredible people! Weddings represent such a huge day in people’s lives, and I’m honored to be a part of it all!
Why do you think it is important for couples to have a photo booth at their wedding?
We believe a photo booth can (and should!) double as a portrait area. A couple’s wedding photographer should be focused on getting great images on the bride and groom, and they can’t do that if Aunt Susie and Uncle John are begging for photos of them with everyone in the family. My best advice to couples: Let us entertain and take photos of your guests so you can truly enjoy your reception and not worry about spreading your photographer to thin!
What is your favorite backdrop?
Our most popular backdrops are probably our rose gold sequin and champagne backdrop! However, we’ve had a few clients use our white backdrop this year and we did a gorgeous black and white photo filter for them! Those are probably our favorites!
Any dream photo backdrops you have always wanted to do?
One of my backdrop goals this year is to find a client that wants to create a flower wall using the boxwood wall from Whim Rentals! We love Whim, and their 8×8 faux boxwood wall is so dreamy!
