Family Picture Ideas | The Mighell Family

Have you been wanting to do a family session but you feel your family is too big to logistically work?! Well we (and the Mighell family) are here for you!! You may be looking at the Mighells and think “this family isn’t even that big!!” but these ideas will work with several different family sizes. Some of these ideas the Mighells came to me with (and I thank them big time for that because it was so much fun!) and some ideas I had. They all turned out great!

We did this shoot as a Christmas present for Lu, the mom/grandma in the pictures. She had been wanting some pictures with her husband, their four children, and their children’s spouses and children. Between them all they had 14 (and now they have 15 because Rachel has since given birth to her sweet baby girl!).

To add some style to the shoot, the Mighells decided to go with a color scheme. So smart! They looked so put together rather than a bunch of mix-matched colors floating around. They chose to go with navy blue with pops of mustard yellow. It turned out great!!

Here are a few of the different shots we did for this big family!

First, we start off with a a big family hug! It gets everyone laughing and makes your family feel more comfortable!

For the Mighell family we grabbed a bench, accent chair and a stool to add some variety. It helped separate them by families (each of Lu and Brett’s children with their own families) and allowed us to do more then just a line or two or people in a row. I love how it turned out. So grab some pieces of furniture you love, and we will make them work!

Hillary (one of the Lu and Brett’s children) bought some letters to spell out their last name. I loved this because it not only shows off your gorgeous family but is also is the perfect picture to hang up in your house as a center piece with your last name.

Because this shoot was for Lu, I really wanted to showcase her with her family. I love this shot of her and Brett with their children and grandchildren behind them. Too sweet!

Picture of the Grandparents with the Grandchildren!

And the parents with their children!

One with just the four Mighell children.

It had been a long time since Lu and Brett had a professional picture of just the two of them. I was so happy to capture this for them!

Lastly, we did pictures of each Mighell child with their own families.
