my philosophy

Denver Babymoon!

Man oh man, do I love traveling. Tim and I base our travel plans on where the cheapest flights are headed, but I still enjoy every second of exploring a new city. I don’t have too much to say about this trip, because we took advantage of the time to relax, escape daily life (even though it’s pretty awesome…), and eat our hearts out! But, I have lots of great spots to see, streets to explore and delicious eateries!

And, like every trip, I took my camera, but failed to take photos! I don’t know how that ALWAYS happens, and I literally take photos for a living, but I blame it on living in the moment 🙂 So, traditionally, I have lots of horrible quality, iPhone photos!

Now, for my very unqualified advice on how to adventure through Denver, Colorado 29 weeks pregnant!

First, if you are there during Christmas, go check out the $2 ice skating rink at Skyline Park, and right next door you can walk through a Christmas Market! Plus, the whole area around Skyline Park is cute and has all kinds of delicious food. For example, Protein Bar. I have recently cut out gluten and dairy from my diet, so this place was a dream. Protein bowls, gluten free wraps, and smoothies! If you aren’t aiming for such a healthy option, there are lots of good burger joints and a Corner Bakery that has great chili, as Tim can vouch for 🙂

Our second day we rented bikes from BCycle for $9/each and rode the whole city! So. Much. Fun. We probably rode 12 miles but it definitely didn’t feel like it, until the last mile, of course. We explored the Central Park, 16th Street Mall, and LoDo (Lower Downtown). These places all have great shopping options and even a free 16th St. bus that takes you up and down the strip! Also, if you are in this area, I highly recommend checking out Union Station. Lots of yummy cafes, vegan ice cream and shuffle board is all inside! Plus, it’s just too pretty to pass up!

Santa Fe Street is the art district where they have all kinds of antique shops and galleries! We met so many great people in this area and even stumbled upon a “brunch crawl” where the galleries all had snacks and goodies! Bonus! After this, we walked to Broadway (that everyone recommended!) and had lunch at Sputniks (great vegan and GF options), did some shopping at Buffalo Exchange (even better than the Austin location!) and had vegan ice cream at Sweet Action. This is definitely a hipster area, but I loved it all!

A couple other places we really enjoyed:
Vine Street- Cheap, delicious and has board games! We walked the three miles to get here and it went right through the middle of the city. So pretty!
Beet Box- This place was near where we stayed and is definitely a hole in the wall, but had great vegan options and yummy gluten free bread!
Quince Essential Coffee- Ahhh the cutest! A cafe in an old historic home with delicious coffee and hot chocolate. There was also board games, so naturally, we stayed and played a three hour game of risk 🙂 Also, GF breakfast tacos!
Dunbars- Another hole in the wall, but was near where we were staying. We ate here after our super long bike ride, so I was starving and a salad just wasn’t going to cut it. So I had gluten and ordered a burger. No ragrets. I also had a glass of their house rosè and their house fries which were all delicious!
