Internship with Grey to Blue Photography

Hi there!

Mackenzie Benton here, one of the Grey to Blue interns! I wanted to share with you my experience interning with Grey to Blue.

As a rising photographer with interests in wedding photography, I wanted nothing more than to get more hands on experience from someone who has been in the industry longer than I have. Interning with Grey to Blue has been the perfect opportunity I was looking for.

As an intern my responsibilities include: helping out with blog posts, email templates, designing vendor magazines, and so much more! In turn for my assistance Mikenzie has provided me with so much helpful information on starting your own photography business. We met one-on-one this summer and Mikenzie was so insightful!

One of the many perks of interning for Grey to Blue was attending the Grey to Blue Photography Workshop, you can read more about my experience here. Another perk was just this past weekend, I was able to shadow and second shoot with Grey to Blue at a real, live, wedding! Mikenzie showed me so many tips and tricks this weekend that I know I will be implementing in the future.

My internship with Grey to Blue Photography has changed my perspective on wedding photography. Although many photographers dream of shooting weddings, they do not understand just how much work goes into it. A photographer doesn’t simply snap and shoot and get amazing shots. Weddings photographers have to be flexible so that whenever the bride is running late, or guests arrive early, or suddenly you have ten minutes to shoot the bride and groom portraits, you are able to complete it all in a timely manner. These clients are trusting you to deliver amazing photographs from one of the most important days of their lives. Being a wedding photographer is far from easy, and it is definitely not a part time job or hobby. Despite the stress and commitment, there is still something so rewarding about celebrating some of life’s most important moments with others.

Overall my internship with Grey to Blue has exceeded all of my expectations by far. Not only have I received hands on experience, but I have met so many wonderful photographers and vendors along the way. One of the best ways to start a creative business is to start with a community of people who lift you up and encourage you. Grey to Blue Photography has given me just that and I cannot thank Mikenzie enough for this opportunity.

Xoxo
