Meet Our Editor!

Wedding photography takes a lot of time, most of which is spent behind the scenes. Taxes, client experience, vendor collaboration, marketing and advertising, writing contracts, client meetings and so much more! This is all without factoring in editing, which is the most time consuming of them all. How do I juggle it all? I hired an amazing editor to delegate editing too!

World, meet Joy! She is the amazingly talented editor behind Joy Danielle Editing and is my personal lifesaver. She was kind enough to answer a couple of questions to explain, what it means to be an editor and why she got into the business. And then for a little fun, Joy sent me 5 fun facts about herself!

How did you get into editing for photographers?

The photographer who photographed our wedding contacted me one day saying she needed help with her editing. I had expressed to her my interest in Photography several years earlier, so she knew I had a bit of a background in photography programs. She taught me a LOT about editing and was so patient with me while I learned! After a few years she mentioned that I should start to branch out and work for other photographers – I hadn’t really thought about doing it full time, but I decided to test it out to see how it went. I joined some other photography groups and when someone asked for help, I jumped right on it! I went full time last August, and haven’t looked back since! It’s been such an amazing journey!

How many photographers do you edit for?

I edit for about 20 photographers

What is your favorite part of being an editor for different creatives?

I LOVE being able to see the different styles of photography and editing. Some photographers are light and airy, others are more dark and moody – and it’s all beautiful! I also LOVE getting to see so many different types of weddings. The dresses, venues, flowers & details are so fun to look at all day! 🙂

What do you love most about running a business?

The thing I love most is being able to make my own schedule. It has it’s own challenges, because I am accountable to myself and not to someone else. But I can re-arrange my time to make room for family and friends, and I love that. I also love the fact that I absolutely LOVE what I do for a living! 🙂
