In October 2015, I learned that there was a New Braunfels branch of the St. Jude Ranch! I love anything and everything St. Jude does, and I was so excited to find out they had somewhere for me to volunteer locally. The timing was pretty much perfect, because they had their largest annual fundraiser approaching, and I wanted to use my photography skills to help them in any way possible. I met with Cynthia, agreed to shoot their Jingle Bell 5K, and off we went! This event was full of joy, outreach, and really just a community coming together for a fun day and a great cause. I will say, it was especially entertaining to see grown men in their elf costumes!
St. Jude’s Ranch hosts foster children and teenage moms and provides a safe environment for them to reach their goals. Whether that be middle school, obtaining their GED or getting a job to provide for their little one. These kiddos are some who have come from horrible situations, and have finally found relief within this safe haven. Huge shout out to the staff at all locations that dedicate their time and love to these vulnerable children. I can’t think of anything that makes more of a difference.
